It used to be all I was good for...

I don't own a toaster. I realize that one can find them for as little as $5.00 but I don't have a toaster. To me, having a toaster signifies something more than just being able to "crisp-ify" your bread, it means you are domestic, you are grounded, you are milquetoast (pun completely intended). I do not own a toaster. I use the oven because I believe in "hand toasting" my bread, that this is resourceful and different and keeps me on my toes because you have to turn it, and watch it, and you can't always time it...

I often have burnt toast.

When it comes to cooking I have always taken myself a little too seriously (thinking myself as quite the chef) and realizing unceremoniously that I really am not a pro, not a cook, not even really independently viable as a food-producing being...crying, getting upset at my friends for mocking me, crying because I got upset and my friends, and them mocking myself with them. This exploration of my numerous adventures in cooking is meant to track my progress in creating, copying (giving credit to those it is do), and well, burning meals in an attempt to share recipes that are healthy, quick, really quick, ethnic, beautiful, comforting, store-able, purchased, or any combination of the aforementioned adjectives.

By expressing my consumption habits I am hoping to find clarity, transparency, accountability, forgiveness and just learn to celebrate, appreciate this part of my life that takes up so much time and thought.

This is intended for students, working individuals, strong and independent women, socially conscious men, socially conscious women, travelers, hippies, Gypsies, lovers, winers and diners. I welcome suggestions and comments and want to truly thank you for honoring me by reading this.
